Peterson, Johnson & Murray is pleased to announce that it has been named the 2016 Top Mid-Sized Firm for Litigation in Wisconsin by Super Lawyers . Three of the firm's senior partners were recognized as among the top twenty-five attorneys in the Milwaukee, inclusive of all practice areas. Furthermore, thirty percent of the firm's attorneys received the distinction of "Super Lawyer" based upon votes solicited from over 12,600 practicing attorneys, review by independent panels from those nominated by that process, and additional research and evaluation. Nine of the firm’s shareholders have been listed in The Best Lawyers In America, the most respected and recognized attorney referral service in the country.
U.S. News & World Report is well known for its annual ratings of “Best Colleges” and “Best Hospitals”. In 2016-17 the magazine surveyed over 40,000 lawyers, 50,000 clients, and 10,000 law firms nationwide to discover the “Best Law Firms” in the United States. Peterson, Johnson & Murray was listed as a “Top Tier” law firm in eight different categories; one of the best and most broadly decorated firms in the country.
All of the firm’s shareholders have received “high” to “pre-eminent” ratings in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, which is the only nationally recognized attorney rating service. Since the firm was founded in 1982, that same service has consistently conferred its highest legal ability rating on the firm as a whole.
Three of the firm's attorneys have received the honor of fellowship in the American College of Trial Lawyers, recognizing outstanding trial attorneys throughout the country. Five of the firm's attorneys have also received advocate status by the American Board of Trial Advocates, recognizing nationally the trial achievements of civil litigation attorneys.

Assisting the attorneys of Peterson, Johnson & Murray, S.C., in our
service to clients is a support staff team that includes paralegals, law
clerks, investigators, accountants and a law librarian, all with advanced
computerized research and accounting capabilities. The firm's word processing,
billing, docketing and other service departments are equipped with state-of-the-art
computers and support systems.

Donald R. Peterson, Terry E. Johnson and James T. Murray, Jr., experienced trial attorneys, established Peterson, Johnson & Murray, S.C., in April of 1982. The firm now celebrates over 35 years in practice, having started with a core group of 5 attorneys in 1982 to now over 30 attorneys, with offices not only in Milwaukee, but also in Madison, Manitowoc and Libertyville.
Initially, the firm's concentration was in the areas of product liability and personal injury claims, and assisting corporations and insurance companies in the defense of these claims. Within the year following, the firm added a number of experienced and well respected attorneys with expertise in other areas of the law as well, such as medical malpractice and worker's compensation. In addition to these areas, the firm has developed and earned a well respected reputation in other related areas such as health law, legal malpractice, municipal law, civil rights, discrimination/ADA litigation, and family law.
In addition, several of the attorneys now serve as mediators and arbitrators in alternative dispute resolution.
The firm has been fortunate to enjoy continued success in the business litigation community, as evidenced by its increase in size and locations over the last 35 years. Our representation of clients is throughout the State of Wisconsin, and several of our attorneys have served as both national as well as local counsel in mass tort litigation, such as toxic shock, L-tryptophan, latex allergy, breast implants and lead paint.
In addition, the attorneys of Peterson, Johnson & Murray, S.C., are committed to voluntary service within their communities. Shareholders have continually been members of and have served on the boards of prominent legal associations and councils, hospital boards, and various industry associations. They also are involved in the education of law students serving as adjunct law professors or frequent lecturers.
